Hi! I’m Sophia the face behind The Ivory Method. I’ve always loved organisation and I’m so glad that I have a way to share that love now and find people like me who get excited by an egg dispenser in a fridge!
Don’t get me wrong i’ve always lived in a tidy home, my mum likes it clean, sorted, and running smoothly. But when I was about 12, I started getting into deep organisation.
So I started with my room.
I sorted my wardrobe properly. Matched the hangers, organised in rainbow order and cleared out what I didn’t wear.
My mum loved it. I mean who wouldn’t, her 10 year old was asking for drawer organisers for Christmas!
Then I organised another wardrobe. And another. Eventually, I’d reorganised every wardrobe, drawer and hidden areas of clutter in our house, just refining and improving what was already there.
What started as improving my room became something I genuinely care about because once you see how much calmer a properly organised space feels, you can’t ignore the difference. You start noticing how much time people lose searching for things, rebuying items they already own, and feeling overwhelmed by spaces that simply don’t work for their lives.
I’m so glad your here and I hope you love it just as much as I do.
Most organizing advice is aesthetic, unrealistic, and expensive.
That’s why I created The Ivory Method. Because in the end, if you haven’t created systems that work for you, your home won’t stay organised for very long.
You might ask why, “The Ivory Method”? Honestly, there isn’t some deep, meaningful story behind it. I just liked it. Ivory felt calm, clean and simple which is exactly how I think organising should feel.
It’s about creating a neutral, intentional base so everything in your home actually works, and nothing feels overwhelming. And of course, I created a system to go with it.
Inventory – Look at what you own, what do you actually use? Do you have duplicates? Does this item belong in this space? If it disappeared tomorrow, would you notice or care? This step prevents blind organising and creates clarity before action.
Visualise – Design the outcome before creating the system, how should this space function? How should it feel? Who is using it daily? This helps you decide where items should live, whether at eye level, within reach, or stored higher up.
Organise – Structure the space by creating clear zones and prioritising accessibility. Group similar items, assign logical homes, and use storage intentionally rather than impulsively.
Reset – Decide when your going to find time to go over the area and do a quick organise and never let it build up again. This could be daily, weekly, monthly or seasonally.
You-proof – Make it realistic, low-effort, maintainable and adapt it to real life. This prevents you having to do the whole thing again in 3 months.
Together, these steps spell IVORY, a framework that’s simple to remember but powerful in practice.
Some posts on this site contain affiliate links. I’m currently an Amazon affiliate, which means if you click a link and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
I only recommend products I genuinely think
are useful, well-designed, and worth buying. I care far more about credibility
than quick clicks. Most of the items I link are ones I actually use in my own
home, and many of the photos you see are from spaces I’ve organized myself.
Organisation isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention.
When everything has the right size space, the right container and the right placement everything feels more intentional. You don’t need a massive house. You just need systems that actually make sense.
If you want your home to look like the unrealistic spaces you see online, where people somehow survive with three forks and a perfectly empty drawer (spoiler: most of the mess is just out of frame), this probably isn’t the right place for you. But if you want to build systems that will last and will make your life so much easier while also doing our best to make it look beautiful then you’re absolutely in the right place.
